Victoria’s Labour Hire Authority has cancelled the labour hire licence of Hudson Global Resources Pty Ltd, effectively banning the company from operating in the state. The regulator said the decision was driven by a serious history of unlawful conduct, unpaid debts, external administration, and concerns about corporate governance and compliance capacity.[labourhireauthority.vic.gov]
According to the authority, Hudson had breached workplace, taxation, corporations and labour hire laws, while also carrying substantial unpaid debts to workers, the government and creditors. The regulator said the company was under external administration, subject to active ASIC criminal proceedings, and had not demonstrated meaningful accountability or governance reform.[labourhireauthority.vic.gov]
The cancellation takes effect on 10 July 2026. If Hudson continues providing labour hire services in Victoria after that date, it faces significant penalties under the Act.[labourhireauthority.vic.gov]
The decision follows a long compliance history. In 2021, the Fair Work Ombudsman said Hudson Global Resources (Aust) Pty Limited had agreed to back-pay more than $4.5 million to underpaid workers under an enforceable undertaking.[fairwork.gov]
For employers using labour hire, the practical takeaway is clear: licencing compliance now sits alongside payroll, tax, superannuation and governance as a core business risk. The Labour Hire Authority said organisations hosting Hudson-supplied workers may either directly employ those workers or engage another licenced labour hire provider.[labourhireauthority.vic.gov]
